‘Tough on injustice’: CNN defends Jackson’s alleged humility with child sex

Monday was the first day of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Supreme Court confirmation hearing and he is expected to grill his record by Republican lawmakers. CNN journalists and analysts with their minds At this hour He ran to protect Jackson from allegations that he had given some of his verdicts to sex offenders and child pornographers. They even slammed Senator Josh Howley (R-MO), calling his scrutiny “extreme” and “toxic” in his record.

“And [Senator] Dick Durbin [D-IL] He hinted at this when he said earlier, “This baseless allegation is not fair.” Host Kate Baldwin even made the announcement before addressing the allegations. “Durbin is probably talking about something lined up as a line of attack, especially from Republicans like Senator Josh Howley.”

After running a short clip of Howley on Fox News to talk about the allegations, Bolduan claimed without evidence that “His assessment has been fact-checked, at least in the absence of significant content.”

On Twitter, Howley’s press secretary, Abigail Maron speaks “Data verification” indicates how they “awHawleyMO admits to be technically correct but then argues that punishment guidelines for pedophiles are too strict and should be more lenient. They are gross.” He also gave four screenshots to prove his point.

“Well, I have no doubt he will respond well to that That statement is as unreasonable. The reality here is that they are trying to throw everything against the wall in the hope that it will get stuck. “ Laura Coates, a senior legal analyst, was ridiculed.

Shortly afterwards, Coates defended Jackson’s history as a public defender (not to mention his time as a personal defender), arguing that he was “Not soft on crime” but “hard on injustice” And declared “there should be a judge here.”

The next chief political analyst was Gloria Borger, who dismissed Senator Chuck Grassley’s (R-IA) remarks on how it would not be like Justice Brett Kavanagh’s assurances. “They are people who want to say that the Biden administration nominated him to show that it is soft on crime. This is something that works very well for Republicans, “he said.

Borgar left Condemn Howley as “extreme” and “poisonous.” How to verify Jackson’s record. Again, without evidence, he suggested that his alleged humble punishment for sex offenders “Even if you look at the number, it’s not true.”

“So I think, you know, we should listen to these hearings and we should hear what kind of judge Ketanji Brown Jackson actually makes, instead of listening to politicians, they make their political points, which of course they always listen to,” he said.

At least he has made an outspoken acknowledgment that what Democrats and the media have done with Kavanagh is only for political gain.

Serious questions about CNN’s defense and its record against Judge Jackson were dismissed because of the lucrative sponsorship of Expedia and Bhrum. Their contact information is attached.

Kate Bold Wayne: Let’s take a look at some of the things that the judge is going to face in the interrogation. I want to play for everyone who is going to come to him. And Dick Durbin has already hinted at this when he said earlier, “These baseless allegations are not fair.” Durbin is probably talking about something lined up as a line of attack, especially from Republicans like Senator Josh Howley. And Howley was on Fox News earlier today deciding where he was going. Let me play it.

[Cuts to video]

Sen. Josh Howley (R-MO): While he was on the bench, Judge Jackson had a child porn offender in front of him in each case. More than the prosecutors wanted from the government. [Transition] But this one, I think, who has a lot of problems with dealing politely with criminals, is soft on crime and I want to know, is this person going to protect our children or someone who is going to protect child sex? Hunter and we have to get that answer.

[Cuts back to live]

Bold UAN: And Laura, her assessment has been fact-tested, it lacks at least significant content. But this judge is going to face some questions that brought him. How does he respond?

Laura Coates: Well, I have no doubt that he would respond well to something that is as untrue as that statement. The reality here is that they are trying to throw everything against the wall in the hope that it will get stuck.

Number one, the public defender, and believe me, I’ve become a federal prosecutor. We did not see them as enemies because they were somehow soft on crime. We did not see them as enemies. They were part of a symbiotic relationship to try to ensure that injustice did not happen. They are not soft on crime, they are hard on injustice. There should be a judge.

Gloria Burger: They are people who want to say that the Biden administration nominated him to show that it is soft on crime. This is something that works very well for Republicans. And what Hawley is ultimately trying to do is, in my opinion, in a toxic way, in my opinion, to say that, you know, he has punished these criminals, these potential sex offenders, and sex offenders in a more humble way. His fellow judges, which, if you look at the numbers, are also not true.

So, you know, they’re trying to make a political point against him, and I think what he can do as a judge is explain some of the things he said and some of the things he said were actually cherry-picked. Where he was repeating what the defendants were saying to them.

So I think, you know, we should listen to this hearing and we should listen to what kind of judge Ketanji Brown Jackson actually makes, instead of listening to politicians they make their political points which of course they always do in this hearing. .

Bold UAN: That’s right.
