Stormy Daniels loses appeal, orders payment of nearly $ 300,000 to Donald Trump – Indy

Former President Donald Trump has claimed final victory in a defamation suit filed against him in 2018 by adult film star Stormy Daniels, who alleged he had sex with her a decade ago.

A notorious left-leaning federal appeals court has ordered Daniels to pay Trump about $ 300,000 in attorney fees after rejecting his bid to overturn a lower court decision.

In its ruling Friday, the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled that Daniels had no jurisdiction to appeal the attorneys’ fee issue because he failed to file a notice of appeal within 30 days of the federal judge’s decision.

“The Court of Appeals further stated that the same judge appropriately included আরও 1,000 in restraining order against Daniels in the same judgment that Trump paid the attorney’s fee. In that case, Daniels owed Trump almost as much as his former lawyer, Michael Avenatti, in what he owes, “the report added.

Trump has issued a statement praising the news.

“The 9th Circuit has just issued a final judgment in a futile case brought against me by Stephanie Clifford (aka Stormy Daniels) brought against her by her disgraced lawyer Michael Avenatti, upholding the lower court’s decision that she should pay me about $ 300,000 attorney fee, costs and injunction (appeal costs). Trump said.

“All I have to do now is wait for all the money I owe him,” Trump said, adding that the lawsuit was “a complete political stunt that should never be started or should be allowed to happen.”

“PS The Fake News probably won’t report this story!” He added about the verdict.

Daniels, who was recently involved in the development of a miraculous investigative program called “Spooky Babes,” fired back at a woman who was excited about Trump’s victory in court.

Daniels tweeted, “I’ll go to jail before I pay a penny.”

Michael Avenatti, who was representing Trump in his lawsuit, was convicted of stealing about $ 300,000 from Daniels for selling books.

He was convicted of wire forgery and was found guilty of stealing several thousand more identities in book revenue.

Wire forgery carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, while provocative identity theft carries a mandatory two-year prison sentence.

Avenatti’s sentencing date is set for May 24.

In their concluding argument, prosecutors pointed to a “mountain of evidence” against Avenatti, arguing that he had betrayed his client’s trust.

“Abadi is a lawyer who stole from his own client. He thought she was his lawyer, but he betrayed her and he lied to try to cover it up, “said prosecutor Robert Sobelman.

“He stole from her. She lied to him again and again,” Sobelman added about Avenatti.

“I am just happy to be here. I look forward to hearing from you on all aspects of the appeal, “said Avenati.

“I lost my way. I betrayed my own values, friends, family and myself. I was driven by things that are not important in life. Television and Twitter mean nothing. Me and I alone ruined my career, my relationship and my life. I did, ”he added.
