NBC Reporter: Democrat Outreach ‘Lead’ to Florida Venezuelan Exiles

Joe Scarborough Mark Caputo MSNBC Morning Joe 3-17-22One of the ideas Biden came up with was to resume oil imports from Venezuela. For this, the sanctions imposed on the country by the United States, led by the dictator Nicolas Maduro, must be lifted. On March 5, Biden sent a delegation to Caracas to negotiate with Maduro, who immediately spoke of a coup to promote legitimacy given to him.

On thursday Morning Joe, Mark Caputo, a former Politico writer who is now an NBC correspondent in Florida, reports on the possible reopening of Venezuelan oil imports. He stressed the need to sell the possibility of dealing with Maduro to the vast Venezuelan population in exile in Florida. Like Fidel Castro in exile in Cuba, they are hostile to Maduro.

Democrats want to assume that all Hispanics will vote for Democrats, but Caputo Maduro’s initiative completely explodes Biden’s efforts to reach out to the Florida Venezuelan community.

Caputo: We only have one very large Venezuelan exile community, and Biden administrationAnd before that, Biden’s campaign, and now the Florida Democratic Party, They formed a grassroots group with zero successful outreach to the Venezuelan exile community.

So, if you want to turn the ship around and start negotiations again with Maduro, who is always a dictator, you have to start your political operation to sell it to your own people and to your own base. And None of those spades bidenNone of this was done by the Florida Democratic Party.

Caputo noted that some Florida Democrats, such as Agriculture Commissioner Nicky Fried (who is running for governor) and Republican Debbie Wasserman Schultz, have questioned the new direction. He added:

If you’re going to have that international relationship, you might want to have your people behind it.

And so far, I don’t see any evidence that Biden, or the Democrats in general, did that. So offer this at the moment, or At least in South Florida, Biden’s discussion has flown as successfully as lead balloons.

Joe Scarborough tried to be grateful, but to say goodbye, Scarborough thanked him for his “excellent insight.” Especially with NASA. “

It was a reference to the issue of the American astronaut on the International Space Station shared with Russia and the potentially threatening statement made by the Russians about the situation.

So, Scarborough was keen to get Caputo’s “excellent” insights into that. But not to mention Biden’s failure in Florida!

On Morning Joe, NBC reporter Mark Caputo’s comments were sponsored by Liberty Mutual and Comcast.

Joe Scarborough: Mark, let’s talk about another thing that has come up. America, Europe want to get out of Russia’s dependence on oil. You, obviously, cover the Florida Beat. I wonder, what is the effect of the possibility of the United States starting trade with Venezuela? Is this something that will be met with so much objection that it will not be politically possible?

Mark Caputo: Well, it’s facing a lot of objections in South Florida. We just have a very large Venezuelan exile community, and Biden administrationAnd before that, Biden’s campaign, and now the Florida Democratic Party, They formed a grassroots group with zero successful outreach to the Venezuelan exile community.

So, if you want to turn the ship around and start negotiations again with Maduro, who is always a dictator, you have to start your political activities to sell it to your own people and to your own base. And None of those spades bid, None of the Florida Democratic Party did, and many have come out against the Florida Democrats. For example, Nicki Fried, the Commissioner of Agriculture, has expressed his opposition. I believe Debbie Wasserman Schultz also has concerns, Congresswoman South Florida. Thus, South Florida has its bipartisan opposition.

Now, whether the policy is good or not, whether it is better to talk to your rivals, enemies, whether it is better to try to get more oil out of Maduro and Maduro releases the US hostages, well, many people will say yes. But if you’re going to have that international relationship, you might want your people to be on the side of the state behind it.

And so far, I don’t see any evidence that Biden, or the Democrats in general, did that. So offer this at the moment, or This is the discussion that Biden didAt least in South Florida, Lead has flown successfully like a balloon.

Mika Brzezinski is fine.

Scarborough: All right. Thank you very much Mark Caputo of NBC. We appreciate your report. Some impressive insights, some impressive insights, Especially with what is happening with NASA.
