Jordan Biden-Big Tech Censorship Explosion: ‘If You Can’t Speak, What Do You Do?
Republican Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) warned on Friday of the threat to Americans First Amendment rights, recalling White House Press Secretary Jane Sackie’s remarks that the Biden administration was working with Big Tech social media platforms to restrict freedom of speech.
Last July, Press Secretary Saki announced at a press conference that the Biden administration was “flagging posts for Facebook” that the administration would like to censor, a comment Sen. Josh Howley called “really scary” because it came from the federal government:
“I think it’s really scary for the US federal government, the White House, to compile a list of people, companies, and then go to a private company that is monopolistic, exclusive, Facebook, and say: you have to censor. You have to do something about it. That is to say, what these private users can or cannot say in a private company. “
At a press event on Friday, correspondent Jordan recalled that, at the time, he thought Saki’s comments did not seem right to him. But now, he finds his words “very frightening” because, if freedom of speech can be denied on social media, other forms of freedom of speech and freedom are also at risk:
“I want to, ‘Wait, there’s nothing wrong with that.’ You are making this kind of statement in the press room to the press person of the White House.
“If you can’t talk, what does the rest of your rights mean?” I mean, can you really practice your faith? And so, Americans have this concern. And, no matter how big-tech it is, Cancel Culture Mob is coming after people who don’t say what the waking crowd thinks is appropriate – it’s very scary.
“And so, you add to the concerns about other freedoms. You add to this debate where some say the government knows what is best for children, versus mothers and fathers instructing their children to get an education.”
