Israel owes nothing to Ukraine – Indy News

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has been a hero since Russia invaded his country last month, and his efficient communication with his country is an integral part of that heroism.

But the Ukrainian leader rubbed our eyes over the weekend when he compared the war against his own population … to the Holocaust, thwarting efforts to rally Israel for Ukrainian reasons.

Zelensky argues that Israel has a moral obligation to help its country because right-wing Ukrainians helped the Jews during World War II.

His remarks came as a shock to Israel, where lawmakers have a strong view of Jewish history and are well aware that more Ukrainians were eagerly involved in Hitler’s assassination than religious foreigners trying to save their Jewish compatriots. Indeed, the perpetrators of Baba Yar’s genocide, which killed 33,771 Jewish civilians in two days, were primarily Ukrainian.

The same cannot be said of some historically literate people in our own country, where historically illiterate metaphors defile our politics. Lawmakers and journalists alike have not wasted time in insulting and embarrassing the Jewish state over Zelensky’s remarks, as well as in denouncing the US alliance.

Representative there was Adam Kinzinger (R., ill), who was Tweet Israel’s response to the Ukraine crisis on Sunday “will affect future aid to Israel from the United States.” There was Russiagate All-Star Benjamin Wits, who Announced“After 70 years of ‘never again’, the Israeli state’s response to the aggression in a democratic and peace-loving country, where the aggressor Bello is using both force and justice in the crime, is to mediate.” It’s not defensible. ” And there was Matt Iglesias, a journalist at the Emirates-backed outlet GridWHO whined“None of America’s client states in the Middle East will do what we want in the midst of a major crisis. It seems pertinent to consider the amount of assistance we should give them in Iran.” (Then again, maybe he was talking about the emirate?)

Israel’s security depends on a system with Russia that allows Israeli Defense Forces jets to attack Hezbollah weapons shipments in Syria, and it is inconsistent to claim that the Jewish state endangers itself in the interests of Ukrainians based on a history consistent with contemporary factors, but they may qualify.

Israel is not indebted to Ukraine. Its only obligation is to do what it can to help Ukrainian and Russian Jews, who can seek the security of the Jewish state while enduring pogroms and killings and persecution.
