The opinions expressed by the columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the opinions of Townhall.com.
Michael Isikoff, Newsweek’s top investigative reporter, unwittingly tweeted something ridiculous about a story in the New York Times. “In this section – did not see it coming,” he wrote. The obvious joke about “I Didn’t See It Come” is that Hunter Biden’s laptop is one of the scandals they’d love to squash until about 2028. In October 2020, Twitter and Facebook censored New York Post stories on Biden’s laptop on the pretext that “security officials” (guess which side) shouted, “Russian plot.” As columnist Tim Carney notes, it’s too late to grasp Big Tech censorship, but it still underlines the question, “What are technology platforms and major media outlets doing to lie at the moment? What are our doormen covering today?” Let’s add: Why is a news story “invalid” until the “prestige media” outlets appear a few years after the original conservative scoops? The trio of Katie Benner, Kenneth Vogel and Michael Schmidt have announced the decision of the Times.
