Huh ?! Meyers: Trump’s Russia policy was like peeing on a dog

NBC’s Late night Host Seth Meyers used his Thursday show (aired early Friday) to ridicule the notion that a Russian invasion of Ukraine would not have happened if Donald Trump were still president because, according to him, Trump’s Russia policy could be similar to that of a man who allows dogs. Urine on the floor. Presumably, that was supposed to be ridiculous.

After running a clip of Eric Trump arguing that Vladimir Putin took his father’s threat more seriously, Meyers was not reassured, “Do you really think this will be the conversation? Do you think you are talking to a dog that is going to pee on the floor?”

Demonstrating a bizarre fascination with metaphors for dog urine, Meyers continued:

Of course, if Trump talks to a dog the way he did to Putin, he will immediately respond to the dog’s complaints. “Sparky, don’t do this, don’t even think about it. You do not dare, you do not dare to pee on the carpet or I will shake the jar that is full of loose change. [ Dog growling ] Or – or – alternatively, urinate wherever you want. This is – this – your house, Sparky. You are man’s best friend, and it makes you a man like me. Away, not just on the good carpet. [ Dog growling ] Or right in the middle of a good rug. I was just telling Melania that I thought this patty could use a big yellow wet spot. Now we have it we worked together and now we have it, Sparky.

Myers naturally excluded that Trump reversed the Obama-era policy of not sending lethal aid to Ukraine, and it is not unreasonable to assume that Myers would agree with Obama’s policy because when he stopped disguising his Trump, he added:

In the last few days, there has been some cautious optimism that a diplomatic solution to the conflict may be possible. Even Zelensky himself hinted at a possible compromise. That’s what we need to do – help the millions of Ukrainians who are suffering and support a possible peace deal that we desperately need to stop the desperate threat of growth from people who think Trump, among all people, will stop. This

While Meyers may want to talk about a peace deal, Eric Trump and others argued that aggression did not happen in the first place under Trump, an opinion that rejected Obama’s belief that lethal aid could be considered increased.

However, Meyers ended up complaining. “[t]He thinks Donald Trump has been tough on Vladimir Putin, quite openly, using “bullcrop,” South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster (R) and Fox News clips. Five Co-host Jeanine Piro is announcing “bull” and “curved,” respectively.

Helping the Ukrainians would be even more difficult if Trump did not break the ice of lethal aid, which ignores the media from so-called comedians to journalists.

Seth Meyers: Do you really think the conversation will go that way? You feel like you are talking to a dog that is going to pee on the floor. Of course, if Trump talks to a dog the way he did to Putin, he will immediately respond to the dog’s complaints. “Sparky, don’t do this, don’t worry about it. You don’t dare, you don’t dare to pee on the floor, or I’ll have to shake that jar full of loose change.” [ Dog growling ] Or – or – alternatively, urinate wherever you want.

In the last few days, there has been some cautious optimism that a diplomatic solution to the conflict may be possible. Even Zelensky himself hinted at a possible compromise. That’s what we need to do – help millions of Ukrainians who are suffering and support a possible peace deal that we don’t need. The idea was, quite frankly –

Governor Henry McMaster (R-SC): Bull –

Jinin Piro: – Nonsense.
