Dinosaur reopens – Indie News

Indianapolis-The dinosaur is reopening at the Children’s Museum in Indianapolis, with more dinosaurs, more fossils and an experience to make science easier to understand and enjoy. The museum’s world-famous dinosaur department has been closed for a year to create new experiences.

“We are preparing to unearth excavated fossils from our excavations in North Wyoming and have put them on display for the first time. We also have a wealth of fossils from the collection that have never been exhibited, “said Monica Ramsay, director of the exhibition.

Dinosaurs, dinosaur footprints and murals now tell their stories on small displays that enter the dinosaurs and ramp dinosaurs that were once less sparsely populated. You will see and hear 24 light and sound programs to add to the immersive experience.

“We have the light that makes you feel like you are walking in time. We have plants that are really right for the duration, ”he said.

Ramsay said the experiment was designed to understand what scientists have discovered about prehistoric animals from the Jurassic, Crustaceans and Mesozoic eras.

Much of the Jurassic era has been unearthed at the museum’s excavation site in Wyoming, and over the years it has been brought back to the museum by a team and prepared for display. The Children’s Museum partners with Naturalis, a museum in the Netherlands, which takes place every summer.

“Our families go out and observe the work. We have our teachers with our team every summer, visit. And, then we’ll get those bones back and see what we get, ”Ramsay said.

What they have found so far is seven huge new specimens and countless other fossils, Ramsay said. Most of what they have on display now is real fossils, not just cast.

“The site that we found is so rich and covers a lot of time,” he said. For you, this means a story that covers the existence of dinosaurs for millions of years and is expected to last 20 years through museum excavations, the possibility of learning much more and finally seeing it in Indianapolis.

“We joke that we have no space left. However, we could have said it earlier, “Ramsay said.” I think what’s really exciting is just the possibility, the potential of what’s available there. “
