It has long been said that if you can get the unanimous consent of the Senate, you can make the sun rise in the west. But who knew you would be able to get the sun up an hour earlier on a permanent basis – senators would agree if you could convince all 100 people. This is what happened recently when the Senate passed a bill without a senator to eliminate the practice of changing the clock twice a year, moving forward and backward. At home, “Americans want more sunshine and less depression,” said Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash. “The clock is ticking to get the job done, so we don’t have to change our watch anymore.” And it shocked everyone when the Senate approved the bill. Probably not even a minute late.
