CNN sees Jackson’s GOP question ‘racism,’ ‘Q-Ann,’ 2024 ambition

On thursday New day On CNN, host Brianna Kyler and chief national affairs analyst Casey Hunt reclaimed the GOP’s performance in a Supreme Court confirmation hearing of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson with allegations of racism, 2024 ambition and QAnon conspiracy theories.
During an interview with former Sen. Doug Jones, who is currently the White House nominee for legislature, Kyler wondered what he thought of Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn, “especially after questioning Andre Mathis, another black Judiciary nominee. It was really impossible to talk about race and education, because he asked the judge. Did you see racism in it? “
After Jones refused to call Blackburn racist, Kyler took off his gear and lamented, “Look, this is a historic nomination, isn’t it? It’s going to be historic assuming he’s convinced. It’s a big day in history, you know, for the country, you Be it a Democrat or a Republican, I think some of it is lost in this hearing. “
When Jones left the segment, he welcomed Kyler Hunt, who saw other motivations, primarily the president’s ambition, “So, I think there was a lot of action for that particular audience, and many of them competing in the same place. Josh Howley and Ted Cruz, if they both run for president, are going to run for the same electorate, the same part of the Republican Party, and the voters who focus on these issues have repeatedly nurtured them. “
Hunt’s 2022 tone is very different from his 2018 presidential candidate Kamala Harris, “There’s an important difference from Anita Hill’s experience: Senator Kamala Harris is now one of four Democratic women on the committee.”
He accused Blackburn of playing in the craziest corner of the internet, “And you raised Marsha Blackburn too. I mean, I think you’ve seen some examples of the worst conspiracy theories on the Internet being brought to this particular public, mainstream platform, including this focus on child pornography. “
Hunt then tried both ways before returning to his original position, saying, “It’s a fair play to talk about convictions and child pornography cases, or to talk about the cases they’ve tried, but obsession is usually something like child porn.” As you know, QAnon hits a lot of buttons for locals and – and – people who have found conspiracies on the right in recent years. ”
Kyler then ended the segment with a final shot from Blackburn, “And the private school board of Brown Jackson that was on Marsha Blackburn’s job was just that, not just at this hearing, but for others. Some tests. I’ll leave it there. “
Others will say that the main part of CNN’s work, not only in this section, is that others need some testing.

BRIANA KEILAR: I go back, in particular, to Senator Blackburn’s questioning line, especially after he interrogated Andrew Mathis, another black Judiciary nominee, who made the intellectual leap that was really impossible to do about race and education. , He was questioning the judge. Have you seen any racism?
Doug Jones: You know, look, I’m not going to be responsible for anything special, I’m not going to label anyone right now. The main thing I want to highlight is Judge Jackson and his qualifications and the type of his talent and justice, a true justice for what he is going to do in the Supreme Court. So, I’ll let others judge the individual senators.
Kyler: Look, it’s a historic nomination, isn’t it? Assuming he’s going to be historic, he’s convinced. This is a big day in history, you know, for the country, whether you are a Democrat or a Republican. I think something is missing in this hearing. Are you sure you want to retain Joe Manchin in the polls?
Kyler: We believe Judge Jackson is going to be sure. As I have always said, and even to this day, we do not approve of any vote, it is a vote that people perceive as positive or a vote that people perceive as negative. We want to get as many votes as we can, but the goal is to make sure this is a historic nomination. So, as we move forward, we still have work to do. We’re going to meet with senators on both sides of the corridor from now until the floor vote.

Casey Hunt: He’s one of several members of the committee that could potentially run in the 2024 Republican primary. So, I think there was a lot of performance action towards that particular audience and many of them are competing in the same place. Josh Howley and Ted Cruz, if they both run for president, are going to run for the same electorate, the same part of the Republican Party, and the voters who focus on these issues have repeatedly nurtured them. And you raised Marsha Blackburn, too. I mean, I think you’ve seen some examples out there — dragging many of the evils of off-the-Internet conspiracy theory into this particular public, mainstream platform, including this focus on child pornography. It’s a fair play to talk about the convictions and child pornography cases, or the cases he’s tried to hear, but the obsession with child pornography in general is something you know, QAnon’s native and — and– right in recent years. Hit a lot of buttons for people who find conspiracy 7
KEYLER: And the board of trustees of the private school that Brown Jackson is on was just the work of Marsha Blackburn, not just at this hearing, but of course some other tests are needed. I’ll give it up.
