Alessandro mourns false spin on inflation, gas prices not working

Appearing on MSNBC Andre Mitchell reports On Monday afternoon, NBC News Washington correspondent Yamiche Alcinder was concerned that Biden’s false spin at the White House that the war in Ukraine was responsible for rising inflation and high gas prices was not working with American voters. He cited unusual numbers for the president in a recent NBC poll and annoyed Democrats with a “messaging” problem.

“And Bill McInterf, the Republican partner with the Democratic partner, is, of course, in our polls … calling for these catastrophic consequences for the Democrats.” Mitchell noted the low turnout for Biden and Democrats as a whole in the November midterm elections. Noting voters’ concerns about the cost of living, he asked Alsinder: “Yamiche, how does the president focus on the economy now?”

Presumably, Alexander did not see Biden’s unpopularity as a result of policy failure, he just needed a good PR strategy: “This poll basically tells the president and the Democrats that they need to get better messaging. He spoke in support of the US Alliance, but said that maintaining some independence was important for the United States. ” “And when I talk to White House officials, they realize that this is a real messaging issue.”

He was particularly concerned that the White House had failed in its attempt to blame months of record inflation and rising gas prices for Ukraine’s weeks-long war:

Especially when you look at this vote, The number that jumped to me was that 38% of Americans blamed Biden’s policy for inflation and gas prices, and only 6% blamed Russia. Remember that President Biden wanted to talk about Putin’s price increase. Remember, that was kind of the White House messaging.

It wasn’t just the “White House message”, the leftist media – especially MSNBC and NBC – eagerly repeated the dishonest rhetoric:

In fact, a study by the Media Research Center found that from February 24 to March 21, morning and evening news on the network on NBC, ABC and CBS, Russia was blamed 33 times for the high price of gas, while Biden was blamed only 3 times. Same period.

However, despite all-out support for Biden, media reports did not sell out to Americans, prompting Alsinder’s concerns for Democrats on Monday.

Andrea Mitchell: And Bill McInterf, the Republican partner with the Democratic partner, of course in our poll, Bill McInterf is calling these catastrophic results for Democrats. Yamiche, how will the president focus on the economy now? He is coming from this European trip, which may give him some height in the election to show his strength, we do not know. We can’t guess. It does not reflect. But perhaps starting today, we now know that he is going to take questions at 2:00 in that event with a budget. So today he can talk about gas prices, he can talk about inflation and what he is trying to do with the budget and focus more on the economy.

YAMICE ALICINDER: The poll basically tells the president and the Democrats that they need to be better messaging, that Americans have to talk about what they list as their priority. Ukraine is certainly something that the President was not chosen to speak of, but he had to deal with it. And when I talk to White House officials, they realize that this is a real messaging issue.

Especially when you look at this poll, the number that jumped to me is that 38% of Americans blame Biden’s policy for inflation and gas prices, and only 6% blame Russia. Remember that President Biden wanted to talk about Putin’s price increase. Remember, that was kind of the White House messaging. So it really goes down to the idea that the president – and the White House – says they’ve always focused on the cost of living and the economy, but in some ways, it needs to re-focus when it has to. Deal with what is happening abroad.

Mitchell: We’re going to see their first attempt today at 2:00. We will definitely carry it live. This is a big challenge for the White House.
